HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS?

You only need to qualify for the Championships Classes held on Saturday and Sunday.
All other classes don’t require qualification!

Qualifying Junior/Young Rider

Championships Classes

To qualify, a rider must be a current member of CDS and must achieve all of the three two required scores at CDS recognized shows. Classes must have been judged by an USEF licensed judge.

Two or more judges on a single ride will count as one when averaged together.

Young Riders may enter the CDS Junior Championship at all levels. The minimum for a division will be five riders, through Second Level.

Training Level

Three Two scores of 62% or better with two judges

First Level

Three Two scores of 60% or better with two judges

Second Level

Three Two scores of 57% or better with two judges

Third Level

Three Two scores of 57% or better with two judges

FEI Junior (Team or Individual or Fourth Level, Test 1)

Three Two scores of 57% or better with two judges

Fourth Level

Three Two scores of 57% or better with two judges

FEI Young Rider (Young Rider Team Test and Prix St. Georges)

Three Two scores of 57% or better with two judges

Previous Junior Champion and Reserve Champion horse/rider combinations at Training and First Level are no longer eligible to compete at those levels in the Junior/Young Rider Championships. They may be eligible to ride for other points in the Open Classes. All who enter the CDS Junior Young Rider Championships at Training Level through Fourth Level will ride the two highest tests. Placing will be determined by adding the percentages earned in both tests.

Those who enter the FEI Young Rider class will be required to ride the Young Rider Team, Prix St. Georges and the Young Rider Freestyle. The Champions will be determined by adding the percentages earned in all tests. Those who enter the FEI Junior Championship will ride FEi Junior Team (2009) and Individual (2009) and FEI Junior Freestyle (2009).

Rider and Owner must be CDS members at the time qualifying scores are earned.

ALL Championship classes are open to Juniors and Young Riders with the exception of Class 305 which is open only to FEI Juniors and Class 501 which is open only to FEI Young Riders.

Final scores will be determined by the addition of the two or three percentages required for each Championship Class.
